Cinderella is a girl who has evil stepsisters goes to a dance falls in love with the prince and she runs away to hide her true identity then the prince finds her, and they live happily
ever after.

I really like this decodable book. The little golden book series takes classic books like Cinderella and makes them appropriate for young children to develop literacy skills. Personally, I have so many of the little golden book series they are classic!

I would rate this book a 4 out of 5.

Case #4 Board

Corduroy

This board book follows the story of a bear that is named corduroy because he has overalls

made out of Corduroy and he loses a button. Throughout the whole book, he tries to finds

a lost button.

I really like this book is a classic. They also have different books based on this book for different holidays or different adventures and as a young kid who is just learning colors, letters, and numbers it is a great book to start learning those things. It is such a classic book!

Case #3 Wordless picture

Pancakes for Breakfast

by: Tomie dePaola

ISBN: 9781328710604
Publication Date: 01/09/2018

This wordless picture book follows the story of an old lady on a winter day when she is craving pancakes. She makes some mistakes in her recipes until she gets the perfect pancakes.

I really like this Wordless picture book because children can use their prediction skills to figure out what’s going to happen next. It is very colorful and it has very good illustrations to tell the story without any words.

I would rate this book 5 out of 5.

Case #2 wordless picture

Unspoken: A Story from the Underground Railroad
By: by Henry Cole

ISBN: 9780545399975
Publisher: Scholastic, Inc.
Publication Date: 11/01/2012

As a wordless picture book, this book follows the story of a girl
who lives on a farm. The little girl discovers a girl hiding in her
family’s barn. It teaches children different feelings including
humanity and compassion and how to deal with different
people they might encounter in life.

I really like this book because it doesn’t just teach children
different feelings/emotions but predicting, which personally is
important to teach children. I would definitely give this to children
in 3rd grade or up, not a 3-year-old child.

I would give this book a 5 out of 5 stars.

Case #1 Grocery Store

Disney Frozen 2 Magical Sticker Book

by DK
ISBN: 9781465479020
Publisher: DK
Publication Date: 10/04/2019

As a Grocery Store book this is a fun book! Especially with the fact that there are stickers. As it is a grocery store book it is not supposed
to be educational and it is not, which is good. Frozen is very popular right now and kids want their parents to buy it. The book follows Anna, Elsa, Sven, Kristoff, and Olaf.

as a teacher I don’t like this book but, I liked this book as a Grocery Store book. I like it because it follows a story that has the two best things a kid likes frozen, and stickers.

I would rate this book a 3 out of 5.

Welcome!

Welcome as I start investigating Children's literature!

I am a senior Early Childhood major and looking forward to starting my career. I have three older sisters, I am the youngest child! Growing up, and watching my sisters they read older literature due to their ages. Of course, I wanted to read those books like Harry Potter but couldn't because I was 5 and my sisters were 12. I didn't read much but when I did I loved to read picture books like Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and pattern books like Madeline. My dream career is to my a child life specialist at a children's hospital. I want to help children learn who can not be at school, play is an important way of doing that. Next, to play, reading is next to that; in my mind.  I would like to find out information based on these questions like; what books are appropriate books based on a child's cognitive development and why? which children's literature is appropriate for different teaching practices like a read-aloud? how can children learn things like reading and speaking from children's literature?

We will be going different cases (books) and looking at them closly to see what literature is good and bad.
